We aspire to be Asia’s model corporation in sustainable development. Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Malaysia’s Shared Prosperity Vision 2030, we’ve set five goals and 19 key targets so that we can take concrete steps and measure progress periodically to ensure Sunway stays on track to meet these objectives.
All five goals are aligned with the UN-SDGs and we aim to achieve them by 2030.
Our Commitment to ESG and Sustainability
Sunway has prioritised sustainability since its inception in 1974. It stems from the vision of our founder and chairman, Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah AO, who made sustainability an integral part of Sunway’s business and decision-making process.
We define sustainability as more than just “going green.” Sunway adopts a holistic and comprehensive approach to ensure sustainable long-term growth by leveraging innovation and technology to generate lasting value. And we do so while upholding good governance, environment stewardship, talent management and community investment.
It all begins in sustainable development
Sunway’s commitment to sustainability and core values adds up to a powerful combination that has fuelled the Group’s growth and expansion over half a century. The very founding of Sunway Group is based on the concept of sustainable development, beginning with the transformation of our flagship Sunway City Kuala Lumpur from a wasteland into a wonderland.
We rehabilitated a land scarred by disused and abandoned mining pools, restored the ecosystem both physically and socially, and deployed technology and innovation to build an integrated township that houses everything from educational institutions, commercial entities, medical centre to shopping mall, hotel, themed park and residential neighbourhood. This vibrant community serves more than 200,000 people.
Our Policies
Sunway Group is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, business conduct, and professionalism in line with our core values of Integrity, Humility, and Excellence. We espouse a zero-tolerance policy towards bribery and corruption in our business dealings with all stakeholders governed by the Sunway Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) policy.
Sunway’s Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) policy was approved by the Board in 2019. It covers the Group’s anti-bribery and corruption strategies as well as action plans in preventing, detecting and managing bribery and corruption issues. Sunway does not make or offer monetary or in-kind political contributions to political parties, political party officials or candidates for political office. In 2020, we rolled out training on the ABC policy to all Sunway staff.

Sunway is strongly against all kinds of money laundering including dealing in the proceeds of criminal activities and terrorism financing. This policy guides all Sunway employees on strengthening anti-money laundering governance and reiterates Sunway’s commitment to complying with the Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

This policy serves as an avenue for Sunway’s employees and stakeholders to report any suspected inappropriate behaviour or misconduct relating to fraud, corrupt practices and/or abuses involving the Group’s resources. Complaints and feedback can be made via the Whistleblowing hotline at +603-5639 8025 or email at whistleblowing@sunway.com.my. All faxes and emails received will be directed to the Head of Group Internal Audit Department (GIAD). In 2020, GIAD received three reports not related to corruption and bribery through the whistleblowing channel.

The National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) 2022
Sunway Berhad wins Platinum, Sunway Construction Group wins Gold and Sunway REIT wins Silver in the Companies with RM2bil to RM10bil in Market Capitalisation category at the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) 2022. Meanwhile, Sunway Berhad wins Silver in the Best Sustainability Reporting category.
The Edge ESG Awards 2022
Sunway Berhad wins the Long-Term Achiever award at The Edge ESG Awards 2022, signifying the Group’s commitment to the sustainability agenda. Sunway Berhad also wins the silver award in the Industrial Products and Services category.
The Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2022
Sunway Group clinches two accolades namely, Company of the Year Award for excellent national COVID-19 initiatives, and Long-Standing Excellence in Sustainability Award for continuous giving back to community at the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2022.
